About Nicole Marie
Nicole is a native of San Francisco and has been engaged in the social impact sector for over 20 years. Her work leading nonprofits and foundations has informed her deep desire to reduce philanthropy’s drag coefficient. Nicole co-founded a nonprofit, a foundation, and a firm, and understands the demands of emergent social sector leaders. She’s also led decades-old organizations that crave a new vision of their relevance and a path forward. Her expertise lies in capacity building, governance, strategic planning, board development, executive counsel, and grantmaking. Nicole takes a coach approach to coax from clients their vision for social change and to identify the key elements that will drive their success. Nicole is the recipient of the Jesse Marvin Unruh California State Assembly Fellowship and the Tony Patiño Fellowship—both of which recognize people of character and capability who are committed to public service. Nicole is President of the San Carlos School District Board of Trustees. A lifelong learner, she recently completed Innovate Public School’s National Parent Leader Institute, Exponent Philanthropy’s Coaching For Effective Philanthropy, and is a Certified Facilitator for 21/64. Nicole has three degrees from the University of California: Davis, BA, Berkeley, MPP, and Hastings, JD.
